Jean is in love.  She spends her days milking cows and doing domestic chores  – and looking forward to Ernest Buck’s visits.  The young couple frequently spends time with Jean’s sister and her boyfriend, Jack. They skate in the winter and picnic in the summer.  They attend fairs, dances, box socials and the movies.  Both keep diaries which they share with each other, along with other intimacies.  Jean writes “cool night but one wonderful time and the first _______?”
