Deborah Bowerman

On 3 July 1875, Deborah writes, “54 years ago today, my father & mother landed in Quebec with 11 children, 6 boys & 5 girls.” Now nearly seventy years old, Deborah’s household consists of her husband and two daughters from her 1st marriage: Lydia, and Mary and Mary’s husband (Levi) and their three children.  Deborah is upset when in 1878 Levi decides that his family will be moving out and everyone leaves the old homestead. In the second diary Deborah is widowed and living with Mary’s family. Throughout her life she regularly attends Quaker meetings.
