William R. Coleman

William makes weekly, not daily, entries in his diary and gives us a longitudinal view of his life from his bachelor days to age 52. He is a farmer, Orangeman, census-taker, path-master, councilman, sergeant in the Fenian Raids, hotel owner, school board trustee and church leader. His entries trace the growth of his family, farm and material progress, including the acquisition of an organ, fur coat – and glass eye!
