Biography:
Every year, Ephraim follows a strict schedule: he works with his swine and cattle in January; he spreads manure and “gangploughs” his land in early April; and re-ploughs and reseeds in September. His routine is so unyielding that any day where he is not working the land is an unusual one, duly noted with the words “tinkering around.” Indeed, Ephraim has gained a reputation for his skill at fattening steers for export. When he is not marketing a product, Ephraim is typically attending debates, clubs or campaigning in provincial elections.
