Anne Thurtell Everitt

Anne provides vivid descriptions and judgements in this travel journal.  She leaves her home in Norfolk, England, and travels through New York, Niagara Falls and Hamilton, reaching her brother’s home near Guelph on June 6th. Their reunion is emotional. Anne had raised his children when his first wife died, and she is anxious to see them again now that they are grown up and have homes of their own.  She attends various events and visits several families in Guelph, Puslinch, and Eramosa Townships. She notes that Guelph is a “straggling incomplete looking place.”
