David Gibson

David is undoubtedly one of the more recognizable diarists in our collection. His association with William Lyon McKenzie, along with his participation in the 1837 Rebellion, are often the starting points when detailing his storied political life. David’s diaries, however, reveal a more solemn and subdued individual. David finds comfort in the structured nature of farm life, carefully following a strict regimen for harvesting every spring. He develops a passion for ploughing matches and frequently delivers lectures on the importance of temperance.
