Biography:

Eliza Ann is an “outdoor” woman. While her sister cooks and cleans, she raises poultry, gardens, and helps in the hay fields. For several years she keeps a daily tally of egg production. When her father, a noted breeder of Shropshire sheep dies in 1899, the household gets reconfigured. Eliza Ann and her mother and sister Agnes move upstairs to live while her brother and his new wife occupy the main floor. Sometimes the house has “too many cooks in the kitchen.” Her sister Jane and husband live across the road.
