This diary is a family affair as everyone is knitting mitts and writing in the diary. Robert is a minister who moves his young family into the backwoods to pioneer. They raise a house and barn and build their own ox sleigh and bedstead. Note how his children sign their entries with their initial, and how “Mother made ten plum puddings ready for the raising day.”
