John Arthur Tidy

John has just been released from prison and narrowly escaped execution for his role in the Rebellion of 1837. He is a land surveyor and farmer and seems to teach as well. He sets about building his own barn which he laments he must do himself as he can’t afford labour. Being an ex-prisoner/rebel might have prevented his more conservative neighbours from helping him. The diary and memoranda book also contain household and farm accounts, poetry, copies of surveys, and other legal instruments.
