Biography

Irwin is a dedicated diarist, keeping a diary for most of his adult life. Besides his daily “jobbing” around his farm near Dresden, he is determined to improve it. He attends the Farmers’ Institute and agricultural fairs with that in mind. He and Clara have a busy family, and Irwin keeps track of their activities. He frequently mentions Clara’s trips and visitors, as they both have relatives living nearby. For anyone interested in tracing the development of a farm and family over several decades, these are very useful diaries.
