Charles John Treffry 

What was everyday life like in the year of Confederation?  Charles, “C.J.” gives us a year-long account of 1867 on his farm near Hawtrey.  He writes short entries about his work and the family’s activities and keeps a “Saw Log” account and “Seed Sown” list at the back.  Read what he has to say on July 1st, 1867 amidst working on the roads and plowing.  You can catch up on Charles when he is age seventy-five by reading his wife Alice’s diary for 1900.  Norwich and District Archives have his son George’s 1877 diary too.
