Charlotte “Aleta” Dance Sweet

For her day, Aleta is an equal partner with her husband. Previously a teacher, upon marriage she is homemaking, mothering, milking, haying, and showing Holstein cattle. She does all the bookkeeping and correspondence concerning their registered cattle, different farms, and grapefruit groves in Florida. The telephone and hydro free up time for other activities, such as her advocacy for temperance and later disarmament. She is a guest speaker at the Canadian National Exhibition, the Women’s Missionary Society of which she is President, and the local Women’s Institute where she compiles the Tweedsmuir History.
