Christine Bondy Lucier 

Christine marries a farm labourer who is twelve years her senior. Their mother tongue is French, but she writes her diary in English. She has a lively social life. Nearly every day she goes “across the road.” She frequently has visitors, goes to dances, and plays “Pedro.” Sometimes they drink wine and eat cakes. On occasion, she and Tom go to weddings and to mass and confession. Her diary mostly covers January and February 1896. Then random entries appear up until 1903, largely consisting of some work, grocery and butter accounts, a recipe, and gravestone inscriptions.
