Ellamanda Krauter Maurer

Ellamander refers to herself as “Ella” and with a sense of humour, eye to detail, and posterity captures the work of herself, husband, and only son, Vernon. Her diaries, which are all shapes and sizes, cover two world wars and the Great Depression.  She makes short entries but does have fun; at the bottom of one page she notes “Ish ka bibble” which might mean the comedian and cornet player Ish Kabibble.  In 1915, she and Walter are renting in Conestogo, then they own a farm in Woolwich Township, and by 1947 they are living in the village of Elmira.
