Sweethearts Ernest and Jean (Barker) both keep diaries of their courtship.  Ernest works as a farm labourer and delivers milk in his horse-drawn buggy to customers in the town of Paris.  After work he courts Jean.  They go to dances, masquerades, concerts, debates and spelling bees.  One debate that Ernest chairs is tackling the question “Should Girls Milk with Boys.” Ernest saves his money for their upcoming marriage and includes his business accounts at the back of his 1927 diary.
