George Hill Detlor

George is the son of a loyalist and serves as an officer in the Rebellion of 1837. He is primarily known as a merchant and prominent political figure, serving as Conservative MPP for Lennox and Addington, assessor, justice of the peace, district clerk, etc., and, after 1848, customs officer at Kingston. His diary, written during the years when most of his children are being born, captures his home life, farming, building of mills, and deep commitment to Methodism. He alternates between farming in Fredericksburg and business ventures in Napanee and Kingston.
