George Needham

For nearly seventeen years, George makes short entries about  his “underbrushin & choppin,” livestock, grains and apple orchard.  George gets the “Globe” newspaper and annually attends the agricultural fair in Sarnia. In 1879 his regular farm entries are broken by the death of his daughter Jane Ann from a tubercular disease.  In 1892, he rents his farm to son Robert. His wife dies that year and George’s handwriting indicates that he is finding it increasingly difficult to make daily entries.
