Harold Stewart MacLeod

Fifteen-year-old Harold leaves school behind and embraces the work of an adult man on his family’s fruit-growing farm. It is positioned on the brow of the escarpment and so he refers to the upper and lower parcels of land. He and his brothers tend the livestock and the orchard of apple and peach trees and vineyard of grapes.  He records the activities of the entire family which include skating, lacrosse and much visiting.
