Biography:
Henry’s wife, Anne, dies in September 1884, and he stops keeping a diary. When he begins again, he is farming with his grown children who have not left home. He records the farm work that he and his son Walter do and sometimes refers to his daughters who are running the household. In 1900 he sells his livestock and implements and moves into Croton where he keeps a garden. Sometimes the time seems long, but he helps others, and his daughters drop in to help him with cooking and housework. He takes great pride in his penmanship which is a pleasure to read.
