James Augustus Crawford

Experience being part of a very large family!  Augustus has 18 children, 14 of whom survive childhood.  When he begins his diary, he has 10 children including two sets of twins. His wife Sarah dies in 1868, and he marries Ann, his brother Daniel’s widow.  They have another four children and move to lot 14 in the 2nd concession, where she had lived with Daniel on what had originally been his father’s farm.  This is a diary-keeping family:  James Augustus’ father had kept a diary, and his son Leeman Wallace Crawford keeps diary of his carriage making business in London in 1887.
