James Cameron

Do you like eels, sweeties, raffles and whiskey? Then you’ll enjoy this diary. In 1854 James is a thirty-year-old bachelor living on an Island in Lake St Francis in Glengarry County. He and his male friends fish, hunt, trap, trade fur, lumber and farm. They live the lives of “Rivermen”. His acquaintances include the Natives on the nearby reserve, the Scottish community on the mainland and rafts men making their way down the river. In later diaries, he marries and settles down with his growing family to primarily farm.
