Jeannie Watson

When the Watsons begin building a farm house in 1902, Jeannie starts her diary as a family keepsake.  Her cover page is entitled “Plan and Work done on our House, Burnside Farm”.  She then draws the detailed plans for each floor and daily records the work accomplished, challenges encountered and decisions made. The diary part of her journal ends in January 1903 when they move in. Tabular accounts of labourers’ wages and the price and quantity of building materials follow.  Photos exist of the house.
