Jemima Ripley

Jemima is remembered as a tall, quiet woman of immaculate dress and fair hair, a skilled seamstress, and her mother’s main help. Her diary provides delightful details about sewing a silk dress and frilled apron, piecing a quilt, starching clothes, and refining her parental home with flower wreaths and “whimsies.”  She even mentions washing the dishes and wringing out the clothes, activities that others rarely record.
