John Francis Quinn

At an early age John becomes the head of his widowed mother’s household and continues to care for her and his siblings when he marries in 1904 and starts a family of his own.  He likes to be busy.  Listen to him complain as he writes “aint doing anything” and “there is nothing a doing” during the long winter days.  He makes weekly entries until he buys a thrashing machine, a portable saw mill and a stone crusher.  Then for a short time he writes daily entries to keep up with his business ventures.
