Biography:

The Rutherfords are one of the oldest families in the Owen Sound area. Margaret lives with her parents at Bayside Farm and cares for her mother who is confined to bed. Her brother Tom writes home while away at war and on leave in Scotland. It is an eventful year: the artist Tom Thomson (formerly a neighbour) dies in mysterious circumstances, her brother Tom survives Passchendaele, and her mother passes away. Her early life is captured in her Mother’s diary. Later she becomes a registered nurse and moves to Leith with her aging father.
