Mary McCulloch

Mary squeezes a lot of life into her 9 x 11cm pocket diary. She is a single woman aged thirty-eight who is housekeeper for a widower and his sons: Lancie, William and Thomas (one of these last two might be the widower, himself). She attends to the children, a large kitchen garden, flower beds, sewing and routine home-making duties. In July she cut straw for hats. She lives with her widowed Mother and writes a lot about George and Sarah McCulloch (George might be her brother) next door.
