The creation of this website would not have been possible without the
generous financial support of the Francis and Ruth Redelmeier Professorship in Rural History and
the technical support given by library and archival staff at the University of Guelph.

FOUNDER AND PROJECT DIRECTOR
Catharine Anne Wilson, F.R.S.C., University Professor Emerita, University of Guelph. Her passion for diaries began when she read her great-great-grandmother Lucy Middagh’s, diary. Her award-winning book, Being Neighbours: Cooperative Work and Rural Culture, 1830-1960, is based on the writings of one hundred diarists and their descriptions of working together at such events as barn raisings and quilting bees. More is available about Cathy and others working on Rural History at “Rural History at Guelph.”
